Teleseminars for your business

Tonight I am conducting an on-site live express workshop event, “How to Conduct a Teleseminar” and I thought it would be great to tell everyone what is so great about teleseminars.

First off, they can help you build your list, which is one of the most important aspects of your business. You have to build relationships with people in order to build your business. Teleseminars help you build relationships and they attract new people to you – more people with whom to build relationships! I like how that works!

Next, they help you build your expertise status because you can use them to teach on a variety of topics. People want to do business with people they feel they can trust, so make sure you are seen as an expert by using teleseminars wisely. Examples of how to use teleseminars are as follows: Create 1 topic events that either teach your audience how to do something or educates them about a topic, create a series that includes multiple topics for a particular outcome, interview other experts, do live Q&A  sessions as a stand alone or as a feature of an in-person event, provide other “support” to your audience.

Another fabulous outcome of teleseminars is that they help you create a lot of content that you can turn into other products and services. Examples are: Mp3 recordings of the teleseminars, transcribed copy of the teleseminars turned into a book or eBook, a CD audio program series and workbook.

“How to Conduct a Teleseminar” is one of the tutorials in the members area with both written step-by-step instructions and video step-by-step instructions. The members area will be open after the first of the year. You can get a free teleseminar hosting account at Simple Event. See some of the other tools and resources we recommend on our Tools & Resources page.

Use WordPress to create your website

I love WordPress. It is easy to install and easy to create pages and posts. This is a great way for the solopreneur with low tech skills to create a good looking website on their own and it will include a blog feature. It is also capable of massive expansion especially with so many plugins being created for trick functions – from forms on your website to countdown timers, re-direct functions to multi-level navigation and so forth.

Examples of websites created with WordPress from simple to elaborate can be seen on the WordPress Showcase page. You’ll see quite a few well known personalities use WordPress as their “Content Management System”, which simply means the platform their website is built and delivered upon.

How it all comes together is like this:

  1. Get a good hosting service like Hostmonster (our recommendation!) that you can access yourself.
  2. Purchase a good domain name inside your Hostmonster account or have your current domain transferred to your Hostmonster account.
  3. Download WordPress into the directory for your domain from your cpanel inside your Hostmonster account.
  4. Choose a theme and activate it.
  5. Start publishing pages and posts.

If you need step by step instructions on how to do each process, consider getting a membership to our site. We’ve created tutorials that show you exactly how to use all of the cool tools and resources we list on the site.

Multiple Marketing Streams – How Many Are You Using?

Multiple Marketing Streams — How Many Are You Using?

Everyone talks about multiple streams of income, but not too many people talk about multiple marketing streams. I’ve come to believe that having multiple marketing streams is at least as important as having multiple streams of income.

But first, let me define what I’m talking about. Multiple marketing streams is a term I’ve just coined and it means using a variety of marketing tactics simultaneously to bring fresh leads into your business.

The problem is too many people rely on one or two marketing streams. Now, when those marketing streams are bringing in leads like mad, this seems like a good idea. The problem is what if one or both of those streams dry up?

And yes, this CAN and DOES happen. Frequently. And quickly. (Like overnight.) It happens if you’re one to say “word of mouth is all I need.” Or worse, most of your business comes from one or two referral sources. Something happens to those referral sources and you’re done.

Maybe you’re thinking you’re safe because you’re paying for advertising. Unfortunately you’re not, it happens there too — I’ve known more than one business that was left scrambling when something has happened to their Google pay-per-click accounts.

Having multiple marketing streams also stabilizes your business. You’re far less likely to have “feast or famine” cycles in your business the more streams you have. Plus you’re in a much better position to grow your business.

Okay so what are some of these marketing streams? Below is a list (although it’s far from an exhaustive list). Use it to brainstorm more ideas for you business but by all means, do NOT use it to overwhelm yourself. There’s no need to implement all of these at once. (And don’t forget, you CAN hire people to help you implement these tactics — it doesn’t have to be all you.)

  • Online (driving traffic to your web site)
  • Paid advertising (banner ads, PPC, etc)
  • Submitting articles to portals
  • Submitting press releases to portals
  • Social networking (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, FriendFeed)
  • Blogs (note — blogs can drive traffic to your site if you design it for that and update it regularly)
  • Podcasts
  • Videos

Affiliates/Joint Venture opportunities (i.e. finding ways to have other people promote you to their network/email list)

Speaking

  • Speaking live at events
  • Speaking on teleclasses (either your own or being interviewed on other people’s teleclasses)
  • Being interviewed on other shows (radio, internet radio, etc.)

Media

  • Getting interviewed in publications
  • Getting articles placed in publications

Offline paid advertising

In person networking

Word of mouth/referral sources (yes this is important but it shouldn’t be your only source.)

Following up with leads. (What? This is about NEW marketing streams not following up with leads you already have. Well, I’m here to tell you those leads are going to disappear pretty quickly if you don’t have a few tactics in your marketing toolbox to follow up with them. Also, the more you market to your current list, the more likely it will be your current list will referral you to other people.)

  • Online — with an ezine, teleclasses or some other way of providing content
  • Offline — mail postcards, printed newsletters, direct mail pieces or even pick up the phone.

Living outside your comfort zone is something many people will avoid at all costs. But this is where the most precious moments in life are found. Why? They are all precious, so let’s talk about how you go about stretching your comfort zone and what you will gain from doing so.

No one is doing it perfectly

How many things in your life go undone because they are not yet perfect in your mind? This is something I have personally struggled with, however, I am deliberately choosing not to be afflicted with this dream killer any longer. I consciously make choices to get to the action and out of creating the “perfect” plan. In most cases a project cannot be perfect until it is tested and tweaked anyway.

We all have AHA! moments in our life and some of us even act on them. It is possible that you are unaware of how waiting until you get it “right” or “perfect” before you begin is keeping you from being more productive.? Think about it, we all have the same amount of time. Why do some people just get so much done than others? Perhaps they put more effort in action activities rather than planning activities, they intuitively know when a plan is ready to be tried and they aren’t tied up in planning to plan to plan etc.

I am not saying that you should not plan. Planning is essential to success. However, getting your plan into action is the best way to get it closer to the “perfection” many of us feel compelled to create. You have to test it out and then make modifications. No plan survives contact with it’s intended audience completely intact.

With this in mind, I am sharing Allison Maslan’s article on the topic with you. I found it to be quite timely for myself and I hope it will set you on a path to being more productive as well! I especially love what she says about missing out on the “juiciness” of your life. Gosh, you don’t want that to happen! ~ Schall Adams

Is Your Strive For Perfection Choking You? By Allison Maslan

Are you living your life to the fullest at this moment in time? Do you have the life that you have always dreamed of? If so, congratulations! Meditate a few moments each day on the goodness that you have experienced from your great fortune. If your answer is no, it is never too late to start. So many of my coaching clients tell me they don’t reach their goals because they want everything perfect before they move forward.
They are striving for perfection and it is killing them. They want a perfectly clean house, to say the perfect words and to do perfect work at all times. What is the point of “perfect” anyway? Pressure filled expectations are a sure way to turn any goal into a ball and chain. Many people resist attempting new challenges or setting new goals because they are afraid they will not perform to their ridiculous level of expectation.
As a result, they give up before they ever begin. Then the feelings of disappointment and failure set in. I started taking modern dance in my 30s. The room was full of young women and men that had been dancing since childhood. My mind was aghast as the dance instructor got in front of the class and proceeded to dance several eloquent steps that we were supposed to immediately mirror. I knew I was in trouble as the class was spinning one way and I was tripping the other way (Picture I Love Lucy and the Rockettes).
Through this experience, I learned to laugh at myself and let go of the notion of doing it perfectly. It was not possible for me to keep up with these experts; and attempting to do so was way too much pressure. Once the light bulb came on that I could do something for the fun of it, I relaxed about the outcome. And wouldn’t you know it, I was able to perform in several dance presentations and I had a blast.
If you are not putting yourself out there, reaching toward what you really want because you are afraid of not being perfect, you are missing out on the juiciness of your life. It is the non-perfect part that will be most memorable and uniquely you.
